Everyone says he doesn’t have a chance. His own father told him he’d be dead on the first day, in the blood bath. He’s not Cooper. He’s not strong. He’s tiny. He’s gay. His mentor, Sue Sylvester, doesn’t put much stock in him. She helps him enough, because the female tribute isn’t much either, so it’s him or nothing.

The buzz in the Capitol is that he won’t get far. It’s a touching story - volunteering to save his boyfriend - and for the first few days, that clip is replayed many times. The crowd loves it. And in his interview, Caesar Flickman helps play that up. It makes their love look unbreakable, which Blaine knows it is. He can only hope that a few rich Captiol members see it as well and sponsor him.

Blaine has something - someone - worth fighting for.

He’s sure others in the arena do, too. A mother, a father - maybe even a boyfriend or girlfriend like him. Others are just there to fight for fame. For their life.

Blaine has Kurt. Kurt, who he couldn’t have possibly lived without. Kurt, who couldn’t live without him, either.

Which is why he needs to get out of the arena alive, so he can go back to Kurt and be with him forever.

Everyone else doesn’t see that as enough to fight and live for, but Blaine knows it’s all he needs, in the end. As long as he sets his sights on Kurt, nothing else matters. He simply has to live. No negations.

In the end, everyone sees that, when he emerges from the arena - alive - and falling into Kurt’s arms the very moment he’s back in District 8.
